There isn't enough time to wait until your sister heals the dying man and comes back to heal you. Besides, she will have to use up a lot of energy in healing the man and will probably be too tired to heal you. You decide to patch up your own arm and hurry to find your mom.
As you decide the best way to bandage your wound, you begin to think about your mother. She knows how to use magic, but it is limited only to healing. Also, her age is affecting her. Because she is getting older, she cannot use magic as well as she used to. Recently, she has been focusing more on teaching your sister, so that she can replace her.
But... do the enemies know that?
They might know that she has healing powers and use it for themselves. They might overwork her until she dies of exhaustion. No, your mother would probably refuse even to take a look at the enemy's wounds. They might kill her because of her disobedience.
Will I be able to save her?
As you finish patching up your wounded arm, you are struck with self doubt. You remember how you couldn't even fight before you got injured. You might even get caught and they might try to get information from you. They will torture you and eventually kill you. They might even torture your mother in front of your very eyes.
You pick up your crossbow, but then toss it back. You walk slowly out of the tent, glancing at your sister who is wiping a wound and murmuring magical words, pouring energy and power of healing into the dying soldier. He fought well. He was brave enough to kill many enemies.
What were you? A coward who couldn't even kill a single man.
The crossbow was made for a man who fights from a distance, who stands far away in a 'safe' place.
You feel your wounded arm aching with pain, the patch already getting wet with blood. The image of your mom being cruelly tortured flashes through your mind. It is time to take action. You think back to your father before you left for battle. He had the sword in his hand.
