You run to the phone and dial the number of your best friend. It rings three times and you hear an answer. "Hello, who is it?"
You try to answer, but can't. The words won't come. And then the blackness comes over you.
Your eyes snap open. The late afternoon sun is pouring through the window over your face. It feels soft against your skin. You stand and stretch, then turn to go to the bathroom. You enter the bathroom and catch sight of your reflection. You scream.
Your body has transformed. Transparent, glass-like insect wings are sprouting from your shoulder blades. Blue stripes run the length of your arms, intersecting with red markings that crawl onto your face. Hard scales have formed over some of your skin like armor to protect yourself.
The Bug! It must have been radio active or something! This is what happens to superheroes you realize. Your initial fear is being replaced by amazement and excitement. What couldn't you do with this awesome new body? The wings began to flutter filling the air with a loud droning buzz. You run down the stairs and into your large backyard. Soon you are six feet above the ground and feeling powerful. A superhero! Wow! You can go to a special school now and be famous and save the world.
Just then you see a car pull into the driveway. It's your parents. You land on the ground and run out to see them.
When they see you, your mother faints, your father yells in fright, and your sister screams running behind the car.
