Expected? 5C

You decide to go right. Furiously, you kick your legs and strike the water with your arms. Your chest is compressing and the air is practically gone. As your motions slow, a thought passes through your soggy mind. You still have air in your body and it will drag you to the surface. You stop thrashing and relax. Almost instantly your body surges up. A moment later you break the surface of the waves. Gasping for air you grab randomly for anything to hold on to. As you search, your hands catch the edge of something and you tighten your grip and pull yourself to it. It's a buoy. Too weak to call for help, you hang on to the buoy, wrapping your arms around it and securing your body to prevent falling back into the water. You close your eyes and focus on breathing, restoring oxygen to your organs.
Shouts from the pier cause you to open your eyes. The light has changed, the sun is rising. You fell asleep still clinging to the buoy, but some early morning fishermen have noticed you. The sound of an engine grows louder in your ears. A rescue boat is coming for you, and now you are safe. Completely safe.
