The Mysterious Bug

"Hmmm?"
Buzzzz

You look around to find where the sound is coming from. If you can find it, then you can kill it. How dare this creature interrupt your reading time with its constant buzzing! Your annoyance turns into an anger, which gradually becomes hatred towards the unknown buzzing creature. You haven't had very much free time since you got your new job, and now this "buzzer" thinks he can just come in and steal it away. You are very annoyed, determined to find it and kill it at once so that you can go back to reading in peace.

Realizing that it will be difficult to find the buzzing while you are sitting down, you quickly stand, knocking your little chair backwards in the process. You chuckle.

"That chair. I'm definitely going to get a new one," you say with annoyance. As you reach down to pick it up, you realize that the buzzing sound has stopped. You stop, too.

You look around again, as if you are a hunter and the poor buzzing one is your prey. Something feels weird, as if a bug is crawling on your arm.

You look down, and wow, there is a reddish blue bug on your arm. It's wiggling and showing off the pretty colours shining on its back.

It is certainly a very pretty bug, if you can say that bugs are pretty. The colours are so bright and well-polished that it looks like a knight showing off his armour. From far away, you would almost think that it was a some sort of jewel.

With half curiosity and half amazement, you draw closer to it. As you look closer, you realize that it is biting into your skin. It doesn't hurt. It's almost as if it was a butterfly gently letting down its narrow long tube to sip out some nectar.

But indeed, the whole experience is very uncanny. For few seconds, you can hardly move your body because of this unnatural sight. In those few seconds, it moves deeper and deeper into your skin, greedily digging in, making its way with its sharp jaws.

The bug is medium-sized, not so small, and not so big. Maybe you can smash it with your hand? Not crush, but smash, because it seems like it will break like a hard object. It looks so hard in fact, that it probably won't even die, but instead hurt your arm and hand as if you hit a small rock.

But oh! It's a fast, beautiful bug, indeed. You see that already the half of its body is inside your arm.

You lift your other hand and try to slap it, but then oh! It completely disappeared into your arm. And the skin, closes after it as if nothing happened. No blood, no wound, nothing.

Birds sing and chatter as if nothing had happened. The world around you remains peaceful and still. A green leaf that departed from a tree too early lands on your book that you left open. A chill runs down your spine and you don't feel like reading anymore.
