You take off running through the dirt streets of your town, yelling and screaming until you get to the wooden wall that surrounds the village. The wooden rungs are cold against your bare hands and feet as you climb the ladder to where the town bell is hung. Once at the top you grab the thick, rough rope and pull as hard as your strength allows you. The sound that resonates from the brass bell nearly blows your ear drums, and you fall against the planks of the watch tower. Where is the night watch? You wonder and then you really wonder. Where are they? Reality hits you like a hammer and for the first time you notice your surroundings. A scream escapes your lips and you almost fall off the tower.
The night watch are there, lying in pools of their own blood, arrows protruding from their chests.
You scramble back down the ladder as townsfolk begin to emerge from their homes. The men are marshaling for war. They will not take us alive, we will not fall, we will stand strong. Someone hands you a crossbow.
"Someone send a message to the King!" you yell. A moment later you see someone galloping away on a horse.
"Take to the walls!" the Captain of the Guard shouts. You run, following everyone else who has a crossbow. You will fight, you will stand strong against the enemies. But suddenly someone is calling you, its your father. He is holding out a sword, grandfather's sword.
